Hiking trip pirineos

7 Days hiking Trip. Pirineo - Valle de Aran and Parque de Aigüestortes from 1st july 2024 to 7th july 2024.

Hiking trails in possibly one of the most beautiful corners of the world Pyrenees. The Aran Valley and the Aigüestortes Park.
We will go to the Aran Valley to enjoy its Great Mountain, lakes and the waterfalls.
and of course without forgetting the typical Aranese architecture and the Catalan Romanesque. The hiking trails are suitable for anyone who is in good physical shape and walks regularly.
We will travel in a private 9-SEAT van from Madrid to Vielha valley, which will be our base camp and we will be staying in (Hotel TURULL) 3 stars. The group will have a technical mid-mountain sports guide throughout the entire trip. Every morning we will go for hiking around 9:00am and coming back to hotel around 2 or 3pm. after a bit of relaxing we will go out again to some natural pools or to the water falls for swiming or just for relaxing next to the water or everyone is free to explore the valley by own at the evening.

Day 1.
Departure from MADRID to Vielha, we will meet at some meeting point some where next to the centre. The journey can be 6 to 7 hours and we will do some stops on the way for coffee and refreshment.

Day 2.
We will go for our hiking to El Pla de Beret and the Mongarri monastery. Loop trial, 11 km total with 200m elavation.
We will leave from the Hotel by our van to Pla de Beret, where the start point of the River Garona. that flows into the Atlantic and the Noguera Pallares that carries its waters to the Mediterranean. The route accompanies the Noguera Pallaresa river and runs through extensive areas of pastures,
high mountain meadows and black pine forests until you glimpse the historic Sanctuary of Montgarri. The return will be made on the other side and we will be surrounded by a thick forest subalpino. Below we will find the Montgarri sanctuary, a beautiful and simple church built on an old Roman hermitage from the 11th century. As a curiosity: the image of the Virgin of Montgarri was discovered by a shepherd who saw that an ox always kneeled in the same place and he went to investigate, discovering this image and naming her the patron saint of the shepherds.

Day 3.
Estany de Gerber. 7km +2km* long. 328m elavation.
We leave from the hotel to the port of La Bonaigua the natural entrance to the Aran Valley for centuries. until the inauguration of the tunnel in 1948. This circular route will take us from 1900 m high in the port to the nearly 2,176 m of Gerber Lake surrounded by a great alpine landscape in the northern entrance to the national park and aiguestortes. Once we will inside the park we can appreciate the wonderful coniferous forests that surround these mountain lakes and the panoramic views
** if our energy is good enough then we can climb to Lake Redo with 200m more elevation gain and the 2 km accumulated since the views are even more impressive.
(NOTE) In the afternoon, we visit the town of Artiés, one of the most important Aranese towns.

Aranese Romanesque. Visit to its wonderful Church of Santa María de Artiés (11th – 12th centuries).
Entrance optional, with guided group tour €2. Another option is to take a walk to have the best
panoramic views of Pico Montardo (2,833 m), or natural pools of the Garonne River.

Day 4.
Lago de San Mauricio y els encantats. 12km long with 380m elavation.
we will be heading west to Espot to enter to the park with the 4×4 jeep. we can not go there by normal car only 4×4 jeeps are allowed in the area. Hiring the jeep can cost 10-11€ Aprox per person and everyone must pay in cash to the jeep driver.
The jeep will take us to the Lake San Mauritius where we will take a circular route, we will walk around its large lake which have viewpoints and the spectacular views over the twin peaks of the Encantats and the Agujas de Amitges, the Ratera Waterfall, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the Park, the Mirador del Estan, and a magnificent example of the subalpine forests, forming one of the most representative and famous landscapes of the entire National Park.

Day 5.
Vuelta al gran circo de Colomers. 8 km long with 200m elavation.
The best phrase that defines this part of Aran valley is “beautiful views at any time of the year.” From the approach through the Val d’Aiguamòg we will see how multifaceted it is: pastures, meadows, forests, rivers and lofty peaks as a preamble to the largest lake basin in the Pyrenees: the Circ de Colomèrs. The proposed itinerary is a pleasant walk that allows you to discover a part of This valley, peripheral area of ​​the Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. The forest following the river to a waterfall. Along with entertaining path is a viewpoint where you can see the panoramic view of the peaks and the Gran Tuc de Colomèrs (2,933m) and down the swamp and the river of the protected area of ​​Aigües Tòrtes de Colomèrs. Day 6.
El valle de Boi y el balneario de Caldes. 11 km long with 350m elavation.
we will be going to the south of the park in the Boi Valley, there we will take the 4×4 jeep again.
(aprox €11.5 per person round trip) to access the heart of the park through the valley from the viewpoint of the Sant Esperit, passing through the Llebreta lake and the famous Aigüestortes, small meanders and islets that give their name to the National Park. Red and black pine forests, oak and beech forests, and high mountain fir trees, are part of the landscape that we travel through to Estany. one of the most complete landscapes of the National Park.
After the day of hiking we give ourselves a thermal tribute in the spa of
Calles de Boi. Entrance to the pools about €10. Those of you who want can consult a circuit thermal, consult schedules with the guide.

Day 7.
After breakfast, departure from Vielha in the morning to Madrid.The end of the trip

NOTE: The activities are designed to walk during the morning until noon, each one carrying own food for the hiking. hiking plans can be modified depending on inclement weather or other aspects of the trip. The afternoon visits are on the program but can be modified in case the weather is not good.
